UPI NEW RULES
UPI New Rules :- UPI New Rules: NPCI will bring changes in UPI services from August 1, 2025. Balance check limit is 50 times per day, autopay transactions only at specific times. UPI services will become faster, safer.
Recently UPI(Unified payment Interface) in India is gearing up to bring big changes for its users. If you are making daily payments through UPI - based apps like Phone pe,Google pay,Paytm then you must know this information. These changes will officially come into effect for August 1,2025.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which manages UPI, has brought these new rules. These rules are designed to make the UPI service faster, safer, and more reliable. These changes may seem a bit technical, but their impact is clearly visible on your digital payments every day.
Currently, over 16 billion transactions are processed through UPI every month in India. However, sometimes payments are delayed due to server load or internet issues. NPCI has implemented seven important changes to mitigate these issues.
First, the limit for checking balances has been reduced to 50 times per day. Until now, some users were checking their balances multiple times a day, increasing the pressure on the server and causing slow transactions. With this rule, users can now check their balances only 50 times per day.
Another change is that you can only check the bank accounts linked to your mobile number 25 times a day. This also helps reduce unnecessary burden on the system and reduce the chances of fraud.
Another change has come to AutoPay transactions. For example, Netflix subscriptions or mutual fund installment payments are now AutoPay. These transactions will now only be processed three times a day: before 10 am, between 1 pm and 5 pm, and after 9:30 pm. This decision was made to reduce server pressure during peak hours.
There is also a limit on how many times you can check the status of a transaction. Previously, the server would slow down because users would repeatedly check the status of failed transactions. Now you can only check the status a maximum of 3 times a day, with a minimum of 90 seconds between checks. Another important change is that you will have to show the name of the receiver's bank before making a payment. This has already been in effect since June 30. This policy will reduce the risk of you sending money to the wrong account, as well as reduce fraud. In addition, a payment reversal limit has also been set. That is, a user can request a chargeback only 10 times in a 30-day period. Only 5 chargebacks can be requested from the same person or entity.
NPCI has issued guidelines to banks and UPI apps to monitor the proper use of API and ensure that there are no errors. The aim of these changes is to further improve the UPI system. Therefore, you should change the habit of checking balance or refreshing transaction status frequently. It is better to make autopay payments only when necessary, and during non-peak hours. These rules will make the UPI services you use fast, secure, and basic. As a result, you can make digital payments without any disruption and easily.
